Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (19th century) with 13th-century Dean and Chapter seal and inscription “Sarum Cathedral Library.”

Binding

17th-century mottled brown calf; sewn on four supports; blind fillets forming rectangular frame on boards, with additional vertical blind fillet just inside spine edge; blind stamps at inner corners of frame; blind roll around board edges; spine with four raised bands, blind rolls at head and tail, and gilt fillets; evidence of spine label with title (now missing); “1659” in gilt at foot of spine; text block edges sprinkled red and blue; leaves of blank paper are bound between some of the items; items show evidence of previous stab stitching.
