Title

A glorious and happy victory obtained by the volluntiers of Buckingham, Bedford, Hartford, Cambridge, Huntington, and Northamptonshire, being almost seven thousand able souldiers : against the Lord Wentworth, sonne to the Earle of Strafford, with 8000. horse and foot, nere Alesbury and Wickham, in Buckinghamshire, December 6. 1642. Declaring the manner of the bataile, which lasted five houres, and the number that was slain on both sides, being the greatest victory that hath beene obtained since the beginning of these warres.

17th-century mottled brown calf; sewn on four supports; blind fillets forming rectangular frame on boards, with additional vertical blind fillet just inside spine edge; blind stamps at inner corners of frame; blind roll around board edges; spine with four raised bands, blind rolls at head and tail, and gilt fillets; evidence of spine label with title (now missing); “1659” in gilt at foot of spine; text block edges sprinkled red and blue; leaves of blank paper are bound between some of the items; items show evidence of previous stab stitching.
