Extensive notes of family history, from the mid to late 17th century and mostly of the Lepage and Godfrey families, beginnning with marriage of Mary de ...Salis (?) to Petter Lepage, 26 March 1649, and ther children Petter (b. 1651), John (1654) and Rachel (1655). Later references to Godfrey family from 1674-1692; connection with Lepages not evident but likely to be close.

Binding

Seventeenth-century calf over wooden boards, sewn on four supports (rebacked and repaired in 19th century, with old calf replaced over new wood). Panelled design of decorative rolls. Both boards with brass centre-piece (lozenge- shaped with rose) and heavy brass corner-pieces with bosses; traces of brass clasps. Spine lettered with 19th-century list of contents (not accurate): "Holy Bible /1630 / Common Prayer / 1552 / Psalmes / Sternhold & Hopkins".

Note on verso first lower endleaf, with reference to [birth of?] Mary Southton in July 1692, recording that 'there was camp in the saltm[arsh?] containing [three?] thousand men and eight score tents 1692'.
