Provenance
Extensive notes of family history, from the mid to late 17th century and mostly of the Lepage and Godfrey families, beginnning with marriage of Mary de ...Salis (?) to Petter Lepage, 26 March 1649, and ther children Petter (b. 1651), John (1654) and Rachel (1655). Later references to Godfrey family from 1674-1692; connection with Lepages not evident but likely to be close.
Provenance
Note on Rrr8v (last page of New Testament), 'the 28 of June 1660 - Mary Lepage bought this bibell of goude printe ...'
Provenance
Signature in margin of Yyy1v: 'John Chandler'; probably 17th-century; notes on lower fly-leaf by Mary Godfrey about a funeral sermon 'preached by Mr Chandler 1691.'
Provenance
Another ownership inscription is on leaf A3v (preliminary quire A), but the name is not decipherable.

Seventeenth-century calf over wooden boards, sewn on four supports (rebacked and repaired in 19th century, with old calf replaced over new wood). Panelled design of decorative rolls. Both boards with brass centre-piece (lozenge- shaped with rose) and heavy brass corner-pieces with bosses; traces of brass clasps. Spine lettered with 19th-century list of contents (not accurate): "Holy Bible /1630 / Common Prayer / 1552 / Psalmes / Sternhold & Hopkins".
