Late 16th-/early 17th-century; possibly bound in Oxford; dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four supports; blind fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames on boards, with blind stamps at outer corners of inner frame; blind centrepiece stamp; spine with four raised bands, blind hatching at head and foot, later gilt fillets, and three spine labels; blind hatching on board edges adjacent to spine (in typical Oxford pattern); title in ink on fore-edge; paper manuscript waste used as upper endleaf; evidence of ties at fore-edge; evidence of chain-plate.
