Votivæ Angliæ: or, The desires and vvishes of England. : Contained in a patheticall discourse, presented to the King on New-yeares Day last. Wherein are vnfolded and represented, many strong reasons, and true and solide motiues, to perswade his Majestie to drawe his royall sword, for the restoring of the Pallatynat, and Electorat, to his sonne in law Prince Fredericke, to his onely daughter the Lady Elizabeth, and their princely issue. Against the treacherovs vsvrpation, and formidable ambition and power of the Emperour, the King of Spaine, and the Duke of Bavaria, who unjustlie possesse and detaine the same. 17th-century mottled dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four supports; blind fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames on boards, with blind stamps at inner and outer corners of inner frame; spine with four raised bands, and blind rolls at head and tail; gilt roll around board edges; text block edges sprinkled red; leather spine label with "Political Tracts" tooled in gilt; "1610" in gilt at tail of spine; leaves of blank paper bound between some of the items in the volume; evidence of earlier stab stitching on some items.
