16th-century dark brown calf over pasteboards (made from printed waste); sewn on four tanned leather thongs; blind fillets and rolls forming concentric rectangular frames on boards (roll identified by Selwyn as Oldham HM.h(29) 854), with blind stamps at inner corners of innermost frame and at centre of frame; spine with four raised bands and blind fillets at head and tail, later gilt fillets, title label, and date in gilt; remains of two green and red ties at fore-edge; titles in ink on fore-edge; pressmark A18 in ink on fore-edge; parchment manuscript waste used as pastedowns, now unstuck (identified by Selwyn as leaves from a 14th-century English manuscript of Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica). Tentatively attributed to Nicholas Spierinck, Cambridge, by David Pearson.
