16th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four tanned leather supports; blind triple panel stamp, depicting the Annunication and the Virgin and Child (identifed by Selwyn as Oldham TRIP.9) on boards, surrounded by a rectangular frame of blind fillets; spine with four raised bands and blind fillets at head and tail; remains of two green ties at fore-edge; title in ink on fore-edge; pressmark S57" on fore-edge; parchment manuscript waste used as pastedowns, now unstuck (identified by Selwyn as from an early 13th-century English manuscript of Richard of St Victor, Liber exceptionum.
