16th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four tanned leather supports; blind fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames on boards, with blind stamps at outer corners of inner frame; spine with four raised bands, later gilt fillets, leather spine label with "Spangenber Postill: Evangel:", and "1547" in gilt at foot; remains of two pairs of ties at fore-edge; title in ink on fore-edge (faded); pressmark R56 in ink on fore-edge; printed waste used as pastedowns; parchment endleaf guard.
