Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (19th century) with 13th-century Dean and Chapter seal and inscription “Sarum Cathedral Library.”
Binding
16th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on three tanned leather supports; blind fillets and rolls forming concentric rectangular frames on boards, with blind heads-in-medallion panel stamp in centre (identified by Selwyn as Oldha HM.9/10); spine with three raised bands, later gilt fillets, spine label with "Erasmi Ecclesiastes", and "Antwerp 1535" in gilt at foot; evidence of two pairs of ties at fore-edge; pressmark S3 in ink on fore-edge (upside down); printed waste used as endleaves; parchment manuscript waste used as endleaf guards.
