16th-century dark brown calf over paste boards; sewn on four tanned leather supports; blind fillets forming rectangular frame at perimeter of boards, with blind stamps at inner corners and at centre; spine with four raised bands and blind fillets; evidence of two pairs of ties at fore-edge; title and pressmark (B43) in ink on fore-edge; parchment manuscript used as pastedowns, now unstuck (identified by Selwyn as leaves from a 12th-century Italian manuscript of Justinian, Pandectae).
