17th-century sprinkled brown calf over paper boards; blind fillets forming rectangular frame toward perimeter of board, with additional vertical fillets towards spine; spine with six raised bands and gilt fillets; gilt fillet around board edges; text block edges stained red; evidence of chain-plate at fore-edge of lower board; spine label with author and title; "1653" in gilt at tail of spine.
