Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (20th century, large format) with design based on the Dean and Chapter seal, and inscription “Sarvm Cathedral Library.”

Binding

Seventeenth-century calf over wooden boards, sewn on four supports (rebacked and repaired in 19th century, with old calf replaced over new wood). Panelled design of decorative rolls. Both boards with brass centre-piece (lozenge-shaped with rose) and heavy brass corner-pieces with bosses; traces of brass clasps. Spine lettered with 19th-century list of contents (not accurate): 'Holy Bible /1630 / Common Prayer / 1552 / Psalmes / Sternhold & Hopkins'.

Copy-specific note

Imperfect: lower part of title-page torn away, leaves E7-8 torn and repaired (perhaps 19th century), and lacking all after E8 (Psalms 114-115).
