Late 17th-century dark brown mottled calf over paper boards; sewn on five supports; blind fillets forming rectangular frame towards perimeter of boards, with inner frame of blind rolls with blind stamps at outer corners; gilt roll around board edges; spine with five raised bands, and blind fillets and stamps; text block edges sprinkled red; leather spine label with "Religious Tracts” tooled in gilt; "1572" in gilt at tail of spine; leaves of blank paper bound between items; evidence of earlier stab stitching on some items.

Inscription at foot of leaf Q4v, in a sixteenth-century hand: "Wyllam Smyt[es] of the pariss of [...]tryt[es]"; inscription at foot of leaf R1v, in the same hand: "hely and all his issue & householde for euer[...] office of the high priesthode".
