Provenance

Inscription at head of title page: 'S. Beale 115 Grosvenor Pk. Camberwell S.E. All Souls' 1923'. The Beale family resided at 115 Grosvenor Park, London S.E.5. from at least as early as 1901 until about 1929; of the 3 members of the family it appears to be the son, Shirley John Martin Beale, who has his name inscribed on the title page. A church, the church of All Souls, Grosvenor Park, stood in that place between 1871 and 1973; it is unclear as to whether the inscription 'All Souls' 1923' refers to the church of that title, to the date: November 2nd (All Souls' Day) 1923, or to both of these.

Provenance

Bequeathed to the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle by Brigadier Tim Hackworth, military knight of Windsor and a direct descendant of Joseph Corfe (1740-1820) and Arthur Thomas Corfe (1773-1863); subsequently donated by the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle to Salisbury Cathedral Library, with the agreement of the family of the late Brigadier Hackworth.

Provenance

Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (20th century, reprinted 2019) with design based on the Dean and Chapter seal, and inscription “Sarvm Cathedral Library.”

Copy-specific note

Inscription at head of 1st upper endleaf: "2/8".

Copy-specific note

A few handwritten marks within the score: a cautionary 'E' marked in pencil on page 6, several markings on page 21 and a cautionary sharp on page 26 marked in blue pencil.
