16th-century reddish-brown calf over paper boards; sewn on five tawed leather supports; boards decorated with blind fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames, with gilt stamps at outer corners of inner frame and in centre of boards; spine has five raised bands, blind fillets and hatching, and a small gilt stamp in each compartment; spine crudely repaired with a strip of sheepskin at tail of spine; parchment stubs sewn in between endleaves and boards (at least one of these stubs is manuscript waste).
