Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (20th century) with design based on the Dean and Chapter seal, and inscription “Sarvm Cathedral Library.”

Binding

16th-century reddish-brown calf over paper boards; rebacked and repaired. Boards decorated with two concentric rectangular frames of blind fillets, with gold stamps at outer corners of inner frame, surrounding the gilt armorial stamp of William Gordon, Bishop of Aberdeen, with the title "Amicvs: Medicorv" tooled in gilt above the stamp. The armorial stamp has been partially erased, and a gilt lozenge-shaped stamp super-imposed on it. Spine (rebacked) with four raised bands and title in gilt. Text block edges gilded.
