Note
Cramer, Addison & Beale, 201, Regent Street, traded under that style between 1824 and 1844; cf. British Book Trade Index. Publication of Wm. Horsley's series 'Handel's songs' began in December 1825 (see: The Age, December 4, 1825, page 1); three volumes were in print by June 1832 (see: The Atlas, no. 316, vol. VII, June 3, 1832, page 368).
Note
English sources commonly state that William Horsley was elected a member of the Royal Academy of Music at Stockholm in 1847; this date is contradicted by Swedish sources which give 1833 as the year in which he became a member of that Academy. William Horsley was a member of the Council of the Musical Antiquarian Society from its inception in 1840. Lists of the members of the Council printed in publications of that Society describe William Horsley as a "Member of the Royal Academy of Music in Sweden" (Madrigals and motets, for five voices / Orlando Gibbons ; ed. Sir George Smart [1840/1841]) or as a "Member of the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm" (Cantiones sacrae of 1589 / Byrd ; ed. William Horsley (1842)). It seems that William Horsley's membership of the R.A.M. at Stockholm began before 1847.
