Robert Birchall, music publisher of New Bond Street, died in December 1819. His successors, Christopher Lonsdale (1795-1877) and Richard Mills (1798-1870), had taken the business over by March 1820 (see, for example, The Morning Herald, March 6, 1820, page [1]), continuing to operate from premises in New Bond Street; their business partnership was dissolved on 29 October, 1834. The British Book Trade Index states that the partnership traded from premises at 140, New Bond St. between 1824 and 1829, and that it was known as Lonsdale & Mills from about 1829 until 1834.

Inscription, in ink, at head of page 1: "J. E. Cother" [Jane Elizabeth Cother]. Jane Elizabeth Cother (ca. 1818-1899) married Charles William Corfe (1814-1883) on 7th July, 1842. Following C. W. Corfe's death, she married George Thomas Miles on 22nd January, 1885. As Jane Elizabeth Miles, she died on 29th April, 1899, aged 81.
