Note

Thomas D'Almaine (ca. 1776-1858) was in partnership with George Goulding's widow, Sarah Dennis Goulding (ca. 1766-1843), until 1833. The partnership between Sarah Dennis Goulding and Thomas D'Almaine was dissolved by the end of September 1833; see, London Gazette, October 1, 1833, page 1773. From October 1833, the business traded as D'Almaine and Co. Thomas D'Almaine retired in March 1847.

Note

Mrs. Alfred Shaw, contralto, was born Mary Postans on 8th July, 1814. She married Alfred Shaw at St. Helen's Church, York on 14th September, 1835. Alfred Shaw died, aged 36, in 1847 after which the widowed Mrs. Mary Shaw married John Frederick Robinson of Hadleigh, Suffolk on 11th June, 1851. As Mary Robinson she died, aged 62, on 9th September, 1876.

Mr. H. Phillips is the bass/baritone singer, Henry Phillips (1801-1876).

Inscription, in ink, at head of title page: "J. E. Cother May 5 _". Jane Elizabeth Cother (ca. 1818-1899) married Charles William Corfe (1814-1883) on 7th July, 1842. Following C. W. Corfe's death, she married George Thomas Miles on 22nd January, 1885. As Jane Elizabeth Miles, she died on 29th April, 1899, aged 81.

Bequeathed to the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle by Brigadier Tim Hackworth, military knight of Windsor and a direct descendant of Joseph Corfe (1740-1820) and Arthur Thomas Corfe (1773-1863); subsequently donated by the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle to Salisbury Cathedral Library, with the agreement of the family of the late Brigadier Hackworth.
