"Dear Janet" was announced as a new song in March 1835, although the announcement was made by Walker and Son, 17, Soho-square, and Binns of Bath, not by Eavestaff; see: The Morning Herald, March 6, 1835, page 7.

William Eavestaff was baptized at St. Andrew's, Holborn on 6th November, 1791. William Eavestaff is recorded at 66, Great Russell Street, Bloomsbury between May 1824 (see: The Morning Post, May 14, 1824, page [1]) and 1851 (see: Post Office Directory for 1851). By 1851 the business had expanded to include 17, Sloane Street which subsequently became the sole place of William Eavestaff's business activities. Meanwhile, his son, William Glen Eavestaff, continued the Bloomsbury business from 60, Great Russell Street and from Gilbert Street. William Eavestaff died, aged 83, on 19th October, 1874.

Note

Henry Russell was born on Christmas Eve. Some sources give the year of his birth as 1812, obituary notices published in 1900 give the year of his birth as 1813.

Inscription, in ink, at head of title page: "J. E. Cother" [Jane Elizabeth Cother]. Jane Elizabeth Cother (ca. 1818-1899) married Charles William Corfe (1814-1883) on 7th July, 1842. Following C. W. Corfe's death, she married George Thomas Miles on 22nd January, 1885. As Jane Elizabeth Miles, she died on 29th April, 1899, aged 81.

Bequeathed to the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle by Brigadier Tim Hackworth, military knight of Windsor and a direct descendant of Joseph Corfe (1740-1820) and Arthur Thomas Corfe (1773-1863); subsequently donated by the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle to Salisbury Cathedral Library, with the agreement of the family of the late Brigadier Hackworth.
