Mrs. Hemans's sister is Harriet Mary Browne (1798-1858). She married the Rev. Thomas Lewis Hughes (1796-1836), and following his death, she married the Rev. William Hicks Owen (1800-1886).

'The child's first grief' was announced amongst the new songs, duets, &c. published by Willis and Co., 55, St. James's-street in July 1832 (see: The Age, July 15, 1832, page [1]). The removal of Willis's Royal Musical Repository from St. James's-street to No. 75, Lower Grosvenor Street was announced in January 1835 (see: The Age, January 4, 1835, page [1]). The 18th edition of 'The child's first grief' was announced as published in March 1841 (see: The Age, March 7, 1841, page [1]). The business was carried on by Isaac Willis (1784-1869).

One of a large collection of music prints bound together. Many of these prints bear the signature: J. E. Cother [Jane Elizabeth Cother]. Jane Elizabeth Cother (ca. 1818-1899) married Charles William Corfe (1814-1883) on 7th July, 1842. Following C. W. Corfe's death, she married George Thomas Miles on 22nd January, 1885. As Jane Elizabeth Miles, she died on 29th April, 1899, aged 81.
