17th-century sprinkled brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four supports (two tawed leather and two tanned leather); boards decorated with blind fillets forming rectangular frame towards edges of boards; spine with four raised bands, and blind and gilt fillets; text block edges sprinkled red; leather spine label with title: "Baron de Verul: Oper:"; date 1624 tooled in gilt at tail of spine; evidence of chain-plate on lower board.
