Note
John Hurst (ca. 1764-1828) and Joseph Ogle Robinson (1787-1837) carried on business in partnership at no. 90, Cheapside from 28th November, 1818 at which time they purchased the business of John Boydell (deceased) and Josiah Boydell. Hurst and Robinson moved from Cheapside to Pall Mall during the early 1820s; their business was declared bankrupt in April 1826 by which time John Hurst's brother, Thomas Hurst (died 1847), otherwise of Longman's, also had a part in the business. John Hurst, prior to his removal to London, had been "well-known in Yorkshire, having, for many years ... resided in Wakefield, where he carried on an extensive business as a bookseller"; see his obituary note in The Nottingham and Newark Mercury, January 19, 1828, page [3]; cf. the entries in the British Book Trade Index.
Note
Z. T. Purday was in business at 45, High Holborn by 1835; (see the Post Office Directory for 1835). It appears that Purday was selling Hurst and Robinson's publication some years after it had first been issued.
