17th-century laced-case parchment; stiffened with paper boards; sewn on four tawed leather supports; fore-edge extensions; five narrow pieces of parchment manuscript waste used as spine linings; titles of volume contents written in ink on fore-edge; evidence of two pairs of ties at fore-edge; evidence of chain-plate on lower cover; later leather spine label with title (partially missing); date in ink at tail of spine: 1617.
