Gathering "a" has twelve leaves, with unusual signing: the first leaf is unsigned; the second leaf is signed "A"; the next four leaves are signed a, a2, a3, a4; the remaining leaves are conjunct with these six leaves. The register on leaf 209 verso states that gathering "a" is sexterno, and that all of remaining gatherings are quaterni.

19th-century brown calf over paper boards; boards decorated with blind rolls and fillets forming rectangular frames; spine with four raised bands, and blind and gilt tooling; blind roll around board edges; blind roll on turn-ins; drab endleaves; "Pontificale Etc" and "1510" tooled in gilt on spine; title "Pont" and faint shelfmark (N...9[?]) in ink on fore-edge; evidence of chain-plate on lower endleaves. Now in archival card box.

Marginal annotations in a sixteenth-century hand in dark brown ink. The final (blank) leaf has manuscript additions in a sixteenth-century hand about the blessing of widows taking vows of chastity.
