[4], 258, [2] p. ; 14 cm (8vo)

Note

"The "Responsio" was published as the work of John Phillips, and is normally so catalogued, but since 1694 it has customarily been included among Milton's works, on the basis of its inclusion by Edward Phillips in the list of Milton's writings that he published in his Life ... . The consensus of opinion today is that John Phillips was deputed to write the work, Milton revised it and, in particular, corrected the Latin. It was then published under Phillip's name."--Coleridge, p. 81.
