On each upper pastedown: an armorial bookplate bearing the name 'Richard Knight'. Inscriptions added to each of those bookplates as follows: in pencil, "Jos. Corfe to A. T. Corfe" (volume 2); in pencil, "Jos. Corfe" overwritten in ink, "A T Corfe Salisbury" (volume 3); in pencil, "Jos. Corfe" (volumes 4 and 5).

Bequeathed to the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle by Brigadier Tim Hackworth, military knight of Windsor and a direct descendant of Joseph Corfe (1740-1820) and Arthur Thomas Corfe (1773-1863); subsequently donated by the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle to Salisbury Cathedral Library, with the agreement of the family of the late Brigadier Hackworth.

18th-century reddish-brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four supports; boards decorated with gilt fillet forming rectangular frame towards perimeter of boards; smooth spine with gilt tooling; gilt roll around board edges; gilt roll on turn-ins; text block edges stained yellow; marbled endleaves; title tooled in gilt on spine: "Hawkins on Musick".
