Opere del famosissimo Nicolo Tartaglia : cioè Quesiti, Trauagliata inuentione, Noua scientia, Ragionamenti sopra Archimede . Nelle quali copiosamente si spiega. L'arte di guerreggiare, cosi in mare, come in terra, co'l modo appresso di diffendere, offendere, & espugnare ogni gran fortezza. E l'arte ancora del perfetto bombardiero, co[n] tutte le cose à quella necessarie. Si dimostra di piu' vn modo nuouo e mirabile di fabricare, & vsare, diuerse sorti di squadre, & di bussole. E varie maniere artificiose di cauare ogni gran vasello affondato, & fabricare due vasi co i quali si possa descendere nel fondo del mare & e à suo piacere ritornare di sopra. Et il trattato de Insidentibus aquæ, cioè delle materie che stanno, & che non stanno sopra l'acqua, nel quale oltre la prattica vi si scorgono in questo proposito molti discorsi speculatiui. Dedicati all'Illustrissimo signor Luigi Giustiniano signor all'Arsenale..

17th-century parchment over paper boards; sewn on four supports; boards decorated with blind and gilt fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames, with gilt fleurons at outer corners of inner frame; armorial centre-piece stamp of George Carew, Earl of Totnes (1555-1629): or three lions passant sable langued and armed gules; smooth spine with gilt fillets; later spine label with title (worn); date 1606 written in ink at tail of spine; remains of two pairs of green ties at fore-edge.
