Manuscript full score of the oratorio written on pages of either 20 or 24 staves per page. "Finis" is marked on page 242; the remaining pages of the score (pages 243-247) are occupied by the trombone parts (alto, tenor, bass) for the oratorio except for those in the Dead March; the trombone parts of the Dead March are written into the full score (pages 196-199).

Inscription at head of upper pastedown: "Earle of Shaftsbury" indicating, perhaps, either Anthony Ashley Cooper, 4th Earl of Shaftesbury (1711-1771), or, Harry Earle (died 1774), father of William Benson Earle; W. B. Earle was born in Shaftesbury.

Bequeathed to the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle by Brigadier Tim Hackworth, military knight of Windsor and a direct descendant of Joseph Corfe (ca. 1741-1820) and Arthur Thomas Corfe (1773-1863); subsequently donated by the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle to Salisbury Cathedral Library, with the agreement of the family of the late Brigadier Hackworth.

Binding

18th-century brown quarter calf; boards covered with marbled paper; sewn on six supports; dark red leather title label on upper board. The leather corners and much of the paper covering are now missing.
