Printed bookplate with a rectangular border and inscription “This book belongs to the library in the vicarage house of Gillingham in Dorset: being one of the books given by [blank] Freke, esq; to the said library, A.D. [blank]. Attested by me (this 12 April 1735) William Newton, Vicar and Minister of Wingham, Kent. No. [blank]”. “Thomas” added in manuscript in gap before “Freke”. “230” added in manuscript in gap following “No”. Part of the Gillingham Parochial Library, bequeathed to the vicar and feoffees of the parish lands of Gillingham by Thomas Freke (d. 1718?), and placed on permanent loan in Salisbury Cathedral Library 25 November 1992. "N7" inscribed on front flyleaf; spine label with "153". Gillingham reference N7/230/153.

17th-century brown sheepskin over rope-fibre boards; sewn on four supports; blind fillets forming rectangular frame towards board edges, with blind vertical roll towards spine edge and additional blind vertical roll and fillet towards spine edge; blind fillets on spine; raised bands; paper spine label with title; blind roll around board edges; text block edges sprinkled red.
