The pictorial title page displays a female figure, 3 putti, several musical instruments, and the British royal coat of arms all set against a classical background with balustrade, columns and alcoves; the title itself is displayed upon a plinth.

A certain James Corfe was baptized at Salisbury Cathedral on 26th February, 1713 (new style); he is likely to have been identical with James Corfe, apprentice of Edward Thompson, organist of Salisbury Cathedral, during the period 1729-1730. A certain James Corfe is recorded in the Westminster Rate Books as residing in Bentinck Street [now Livonia Street, Soho] between 1743 and 1746.

Opus number taken from the foot of the title page of James Corfe's A collection of songs, op. 3, where the present work is advertised thus: "... sold by John Johnson at the Harp & Crown in Cheapside. Where may be had, compos'd by the same author ... Six songs for two & three voices opera seconda .... ".
