This pair of carols was advertised as published by J. Alfred Novello on page 148 of The Musical Times and Singing Class Circular, no. 177, November 1, 1857; on pages 139-140 of that same periodical, the score of the Christmas carol was printed; the score of the Easter carol was printed in The Musical Times and Singing Class Circular, no. 182, April 1, 1858, pages 221-222 wherein it is dated 1857.

Bequeathed to the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle by Brigadier Tim Hackworth, military knight of Windsor and a direct descendant of Joseph Corfe (1740-1820) and Arthur Thomas Corfe (1773-1863); subsequently donated by the Archives of St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle to Salisbury Cathedral Library, with the agreement of the family of the late Brigadier Hackworth.
