Appointed organist of York Minster, Edwin George Monk took up that post on 30th April, 1859; he, himself, conducted a performance of the present work, given by the York Minster Musical Society, on 10th December, 1860 in the De Grey Rooms, York; see: Yorkshire Gazette, December 15, 1860, page 8.

William Duncan Davison (1814-1903) was in business as a music publisher at 244, Regent Street by October 1857; see: The Illustrated London News, October 31, 1857, page 447; he continued in business at that address until his retirement which occurred either towards the end of 1885 or early in 1886.
