Provenance

Identified by David Selwyn as having belonged to Edmund Guest (1514?-1577), with faded pressmark, possibly L11. Guest's instruction to the binder at foot of title page: "In bord[e?]s".

Provenance

Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (19th century) with 13th-century Dean and Chapter seal and inscription “Sarum Cathedral Library.”

Binding

16th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; repaired December 1936 (note on upper endleaf); boards decorated with blind fillets and rolls forming rectangular frame, identified by Selwyn as apparently Oldham HM.h(10). The roll has initials "R.B."; Oldham assigns this binder to London. Spine (repaired) has four raised bands, later gilt fillets, later spine label with title: "Zonar: Annal:"; date 1567 at tail of spine; remains of two pairs of clasps at fore-edge; evidence of chain-plate on lower board at fore-edge; printed waste used as pastedowns (pages have running title "P. Mosellani Dialogi").
