Provenance

Attached between upper endleaves, a letter dated February 6th, 1905: "Dear Canon Corfe, Failing to see you on Saturday when in Truro, I left this volume of music with Dr. Monk [Mark James Monk (1858-1929)] and asked him to give it to you. It was among some old music which I found in our vestry when I came here four years ago, and which the Rector told me I could take away. As you will probably find the contents interesting, I ask you to kindly accept it - you certainly have the prior claim! If I remember rightly, it is not all by Dr. Joseph Corfe, but contains the church music of his referred to in 'fiore'. There is a solid Kyrie in E, which I copied & have had in use here since I first came. Thank you for the proof of the Festival Bk, which I also gave to Dr. Monk. Yours very faithfully Robt. E. Clark."
