Binding

16th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on three supports. Two blind stamped panels on boards: (1) heraldic panel identified by Selwyn as Oldham HE.6, signed "M.D." (=Martin Dature), and (2) panel with St Paul and the Four Evangelists, identified by Selwyn as ST. 4; the panels are surrounded by a border of fillets forming rectangular and square blocks at outer edges of boards; three raised bands; later gilt fillets on spine; spine label with author, title and date; evidence of ties; fore-edge titles and pressmark (R14).
