Printed bookplate with a rectangular border and inscription “This book belongs to the library in the vicarage house of Gillingham in Dorset: being one of the books given by [blank] Freke, esq; to the said library, A.D. [blank]. Attested by me (this 12 April 1735) William Newton, Vicar and Minister of Wingham, Kent. No. [blank]”. “Thomas” added in manuscript in gap before “Freke”. Gap following “No” left blank. Part of the Gillingham Parochial Library, bequeathed to the vicar and feoffees of the parish lands of Gillingham, Dorset by Thomas Freke (d. 1718?), and placed on permanent loan in Salisbury Cathedral Library 25 November 1992. "H2" inscribed on upper flyleaf. Spine label with "156". Gillingham reference H2/L/156.

18th-century sprinkled, mottled and plain brown calf over paper boards; sewn on five supports; blind fillets and rolls forming three concentric rectangular frames on boards, with blind stamps at outer corners of middle frame; five raised bands; gilt tooling on spine; paper spine label with title; gilt roll around board edges; text block edges sprinkled red.
