Printed bookplate with a rectangular border and inscription “This book belongs to the library in the vicarage house of Gillingham in Dorset: being one of the books given by [blank] Freke, esq; to the said library, A.D. [blank]. Attested by me (this 12 April 1735) William Newton, Vicar and Minister of Wingham, Kent. No. [blank]”. “Thomas” added in manuscript in gap before “Freke”. “260” added in manuscript in gap following “No”. Part of the Gillingham Parochial Library, bequeathed to the vicar and feoffees of the parish lands of Gillingham, Dorset by Thomas Freke (d. 1718?), and placed on permanent loan in Salisbury Cathedral Library 25 November 1992. "E,2" inscribed on upper flyleaf. Spine label (now on upper board) with "249". Gillingham reference E2/260/249.

Imperfect: wanting title page and all before gathering B; wanting plates. It seems most likely that this is ESTC R218646 (Wing M2486A), but it could be ESTC R20211 (Wing M2485, formerly O167), which has the following title and imprint: Atlas Japannensis: being remarkable addresses by way of embassy from the East-India Company of the United Provinces, to the Emperor of Japan.
