16th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on four tawed leather supports; blind fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames on boards, with gilt stamps at outer corners of inner frame, and gilt centrepiece stamp; four raised bands; blind horizontal fillets on spine; parchment manuscript waste used as endleaf guards (identified by Selwyn as a strip from 12th-/13th-century manuscript of Petrus Comestor, Historia Scholastica); title and press-mark (S26) on fore-edge.
