Salisbury Cathedral Library bookplate (19th century) with 13th-century Dean and Chapter seal and inscription “Sarum Cathedral Library.”

Binding

17th-century mottled dark brown calf over boards; sewn on six supports; blind fillets forming two concentric rectangular frames at perimeter of boards, with blind stamps at outer corners of inner frame; spine with six raised bands and horizontal gilt fillets; gilt roll around board edges; text block edges sprinkled red and blue; red leather spine label with "Sabini Paradoxa in Juvenal"; "1474" in gilt at foot of spine; remains of parchment sewing guards in inner folds of each gathering (from earlier binding, 15th-century?).
