Early 17th-century dark brown calf over paper boards; sewn on five supports; blind fillets forming three concentric rectangular frames on boards, with blind stamps at outer corners of inner and middle frames; blind stamped centrepiece; spine with five raised bands, blind and gilt fillets and blind hatching; spine labels with "Pub: Ovid Oper:" and "Tom I:[-II]"; "1601" in gilt at foot of spine; printed waste used as pastedowns; evidence of chain-plate at fore-edge of lower board.
