Description
A licence from John Bowle (Dean, 1620-1630) to Dorothy Langford, "wife of Henry Langford of the Close", giving her permission "to teach children to read the English tongue and to instruct them in the skill of needlework within the Close of the Canons of the Cathedral Church of Sarum".
Dorothy Langford has been "commended unto us to be a sober, discreet and modest woman able and well experienced for the teaching and bringing up of young children and fit to instruct them in the English tongue and needlework".
