Contains: (1) Original bundle label; (2) Group of documents concerning Preshute: Two letters addressed to, Dean Henry Hamilton, from Alfred George Bleeck incumbent of the living of Preshute, dated 5/6 Dec and 19 Dec 1864 concerning amendments to his stipend by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners and seeking the assistance of the Dean and Chapter to rectify this; letter to the Dean from Bishop Walter Kerr dated 15 Dec 1865 concerning Rev Bleeck's living of Preshute; details of the extent, emoluments and charges of Preshute (possibly originally enclosed with one of the letters); (3) Letter from Bishop Walter Kerr to Dean Hamilton dated 7 Jan 1861 asking him to press the case to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners for the endowments of St Thomas parish to be given especial consideration; (4) Letter to the Dean from George Howman dated 15 Oct 1890 concerning stock dividends payable to the Hospital Brethren as part of their assistance: (5) Extract concerning the endowments of the prebend of Shipton, undated; (6) List, 'Books of Reference which we might lend to the Commissioners' (includes references to a transcript of St Osmund's Register, 'Walton's index' and 'Drake's index'; (7) Letter to the Dean from Bishop Kerr Hamilton dated 6 Feb 1853 labelled on the reverse 'List of documents pertaining to Cathedral' includes references (amongst others) to Liber Evidentiarum, Charters, 'our Registers which extend over the greatest portion of the term from 1325 down to the present day - written... in such a hand that probably none of the Commissioners could read a line of them' and further problems of reading the writing but also the satisfactory current order of the records; (8) Stratford Sub Castle as a perpetual curacy including the opinion of Phillimore; (9) Letters and notes concerning the Close Training School (King's House)' and the Ecclesiastical Commissioners, 1850, 1851; 910) 'Schedule of property in the Close' list of properties in the Close including rent and tax.
