7 sheet
Description
Items 134-141: the seventh "sub-bundle".
All seven documents comprise accounts rendered and receipts for payment in relation to "Work at Mrs Marsh's" house in the Close (see also similar documents included in CH/20/44/4). Some documents are addressed to the Dean and Chapter, some to the Executors of "the late Rev Matthew Marsh".
"Mrs Marsh" was presumably the widow of Matthew Marsh (1769-1840), Subdean (1824-1840) and Canon Residentiary (1826-1840). Evidence suggests that as a Canon Residentiary Matthew Marsh occupied "Hemingsby" (now 56A and B, The Close) so the works detailed in these documents probably relate to that house.
