Description
Items 109-113: the fifth "sub-bundle".
These are papers relating to an "Association for the relief of the Poor with respect to their Fuel". A "Brief Abstract of the . . . Account" of the Association (Item 112) is signed by Thomas Henry Hume (Canon Residentiary, 1803-1834, and Treasurer, 1806-1834), John Henry Jacob (Rector of North Tidworth, and holder of the Prebend of Ruscomb, 1805-1828) and a James Evans; a James Wickins was also involved (Items 109, and 111-113).
Item 109 describes the "Scheme for obtaining a fund (say £1,000) by loans and Benefactions to purchase Fuel at the time of the year when it may be stor'd to advantage, and to be sold to the necessitous in the Winter upon such terms and in such proportions as a Committee appointed to manage the Concern from time to time direct".
