Five of these items (115-118, 120) are letters from J L Alford addressed to Canon Fisher and relating to bank deposits, drafts and cheques. The monies relate to "the Pitton and Farley fine", "the Arundell House fine", "the Kenton fine" and "the Folke fine", mostly sent to the bankers Hoare & Co. Items 114-118 have traces of a small red circular seal and have "Penny Red" postage stamps affixed, with postmarks. Item 114 , 26 Oct 1858, is a brief letter to William Fisher from Everett & Pinkney of New Sarum Bank, enclosing a receipt for £4-12-4. "The Balance in our hands on the Matrons College acct is £221-11-1". With an envelope with a "Penny Red" postage stamp affixed. Item 119, 29 Dec 1829, is a letter from J L Alford to William Fisher about "the Dean and Chapter's estates at Kenton and Hurst", also mentioning "the Buckland Fine" and "The Maddington Fine". "Mr Marsh has desired me to mention that considerable inconvenience is suffered for Want of the Key of the Sacrament Money which he hopes you will have the Kindness to send by return of coach, this being the time for the distribution". Fragments of a seal in red wax. William Fisher (1799-1874) was a Canon Residentiary who held the prebend of Ilfracombe (1823-1874) and was Rector of Poulshot (1834-1874). Item 121 is an undated note addressed to "Wm Boucher Esq" with an illegible signature. "Supposing the 14-000 will purchase £18,500 stock at 77 will you have the goodness to explain to me how you calculate that sum will purchase 555 - land tax - [sic]". What seems to be part of a draft response is written underneath in another hand.
