The petitioners seek an order for payment of the yearly amount of twenty shillings under an arrangement of many years' standing between the Dean and Chapter of Salisbury and the Abbot and Convent of Chichester concerning "bounds and tythes" in Bray, Berkshire, which "of late yeares . . . hath been denyed".
Sir John Fortescue's signed and dated response is written under the petition: "Her Majesty's Auditor to certifie what cause there is that the said pension should not be paid as formerly it hath been".
