The Canons Residentiary write to Peter Vaness (Dean, 1640-1663) that they understand "by rel[ation] of our brother Mr Richard Arche that ye be discontented with our lettres estemyng theym to be but mockynge lettres". The next section is damaged, but the Canons say "ye looke for a more full answer". They go on to undertake that by Thursday 22 February "you shall know resolutly our full mynde". Richard Arche, a Chaplain to Henry VIII and Canon of Windsor, was Prebendary of Hurstbourne & Burbage (1524-1552) and a Canon Residentiary (1527-1554) and Treasurer (1551-1555) of Salisbury.
