Description
Letter from John Bowle (Dean, 1620-1630) in London "To the right worshipful my very loving friends Mr Dr Barnestone and the rest of the Chapter att Salisbury". John Barnston was a Canon Residentiary (c1614-1645) who acted as locum tenens for the Dean.
The Dean informs Chapter that the Bishop, Robert Townson (1575-1621; Bishop 1620-1621) is "very sicke" and asks that they confirm some kind of "patent in myne and your names".
Robert Townson died on 15 May 1621, the day after the date of this letter.

Three tears in the paper not affecting the legibility of the text have been repaired and reinforced, particularly where the closure seal was broken open.
