Description
Letter of five and a half lines (240mm x 90mm) in Anglo-Norman French, largely illegible. Salutation appears to be "Tres chers sires et fiables amis". References to Robert de W[illegible], to the Bishop of Worcester ("notre tres cher frere . . . Evesque de Wircestre"), and to a farm at Melksham.
Written at H[illegible]; no legible signature.
Heavily restored: mounted on modern paper. With an "On His Majesty's Service" envelope addressed to Canon Robert Quirk (Treasurer and Canon Residentiary, 1938-1949), annotated "Returned by Public Record Office after repair. Febr 1948. RQ".
